SPECIES AND LIMITS:
Fully guided rifle or archery. One bull or cow elk (five-point minimum restriction for bull elk on private land). Optional add-on: one either sex whitetail deer OR one antlered mule deer on an incidental basis.

LOCATION & TRANSPORTATION:
This hunt will take place near Checkerboard, MT on approximately 90k acres of private and state land. The state land includes about 70k acres of the Helena-Lewis & Clark National Forest (AKA “the bedroom”), while the private ground consists of up to 20k acres of leased land along or near the Musselshell River (AKA “the kitchen”).

Guests typically fly into Bozeman, MT, Helena, MT or Great Falls, MT the day before the hunt, rent a vehicle and arrive at the designated meeting location in White Sulfur Springs, MT by 2pm. There, you’ll be met by our representative and escorted to base camp (about 40 minutes from the meeting location).

HUNT STYLE & TERRAIN:
Spot and stalk style hunt (horses only used as necessary for retrieving game).

The areas we’ll hunt are easily accessible and not terribly difficult to navigate (in terms of typical elk country), but may range from 5k feet in elevation near the river bottom to over 7k feet in the timbered draws, foothills and mountain parks. Of course, any elk hunt can be a physically challenging experience in which you may be required to put on a lot of miles in steep or rocky terrain. Therefore, it’s in guests’ best interest to be in as good of physical condition as possible to increase chances for success and help ensure an enjoyable hunt experience.

SUCCESS RATIO:
Typically 70% or better shooting opportunity on 240” to 320” bull elk. When option of deer hunt is added to the trip, mature whitetails and mule deer range throughout the area and are available on an incidental basis.

PRICE:
$6,500 per person (five-day archery or rifle hunt with up to two hunters per one guide). $1,000 add-on includes option for one either sex whitetail OR one antlered mule deer.

Price includes meals, lodging, guide, and skinning and packing out of game.

Price does not include airfare, transportation to/from designated meeting location, hunting license/tags, game processing, taxidermy fees, gratuities, or meal and hotel charges incurred before pack-in or after pack-out dates.

Note: A wounded animal shall be considered harvested and any continuation of the hunt will be at the sole discretion of the outfitter.

GRATUITIES:
Our team works hard to ensure your experience is as good as it can be from start to finish. Tips are of course at your discretion, but a good rule of thumb is 10% of hunt cost for our guides and 5% or hunt cost for our cook.
